Parents 4 Change - Where Children Matter

Welcome to the Parents 4 Change website! Parents 4 Change is committed to ensuring that parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities and special educational needs are involved as equal partners in decision making with local education, social care, health and voluntary agencies.

We want to see an inclusive and caring Middlesbrough where our children and young people are valued, respected and supported to fulfil their potential and live fulfilling lives. We also want a Middlesbrough that supports the families that look after them.

We look forward to hearing from all parents and carers of children and young people with SEN and disabilities so I hope you find our website interesting and helpful and are inspired to join us and support our work.

Neurodevelopment Pathway (Age 5 to 17) – Professionals Consultation Line – please tell us your views!
We are currently reviewing our Neurodevelopment Pathway Professionals Consultation Line Service for Children and Young People in Teesside.
The Neurodevelopment Assessment Team accepts referrals for the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) for children and young people within the Teesside area; this includes Middlesbrough, Redcar, Stockton and Hartlepool. Once referred children and young people are provided information around the bubble of support and advice of where they can access support to meet their needs.
Since September 2023, the route for referral into the service has been through the ‘Professional’s Consultation Hotline’. Professionals who know the child well such as teachers, social workers and mental health support workers who wish to refer a child or young person to our service can contact our service to book a professional’s consultation slot with a clinical nurse specialist in our team. During the phone call, concerns relating to the child will be discussed and explored. The clinical nurse specialist with then advise the professional as to whether a referral should be completed to be accepted into service for full assessment or if other signposting and advice is needed. The professional will then feed this back to the parent/carers.
We are currently reviewing this service to understand the experience of professionals and families, and to help us make it better. Please let us know what your views of the service by filling in the survey.
The closing date for the survey is 30/09/2024
